Don't panic you can fix it! you'll need a socket set, a small container to catch the water, some towels and maybe some pliers if the cap is hard to unscrew.. A complete model number would help with a more certain answer but an f21 code on a newer maytag washer would mean a long drain has occurred. this can mean a problem with the drain pump but it can also mean the drain hose is stuck to far down the standpipe.. Is your maytag washer displaying error code f20 or fh? use this page to troubleshoot the error.. My 18-year-old maytag neptune 3000 washer still runs like a champ, and getting rid of, well, i guess about 18 years of grey stinky crap from the drain pump solved the f21-error-code problem. note: this problem really can only happen when the washer has a load of wet clothes in it, and can't drain properly..
