Car sketching and Facebook power

Luciano Bove sketch with SamsungTab 2

Mihai sketch re-interpretation via FB
Dear friends,

yesterday evening I was trying to exercise sketching on my tablette Samsung Galaxytab2 using SketchBook appl by Autodesk the free version made for Android.
So I did the color coupé sketch you can see here on the top and naturally I saw it as not too bad and decided to share it with my Facebook community friends....few minutes later I got an excellent surprise... Mihai via FB re-interpretated my sketch proposing his version here published in B/W which I like very much!

This is the power of sharing thanks to social networking in a very positive and constructive way!

Enjoy.

Mercedes Benz CLA sketch and lots more

How many things can we say with a simple pencil? The answer is a lot!

The Mercedes -Benz CLA sketch and the VW-UP sketch show all the information we can give with a simple professional linedrawing sektch, first of all the sections on body really sculpt the volume with great taste and precision, the light and heavy linedrawing give a 3D effect to the sketch with nice detailing and design proposals.

Simple and precise!

Paradise and Pacific

On this Easter Sunday, lets take a trip to Paradise.  This is the one in Arizona, not Pennsylvania, so the train is much smaller, but its still pulled by steam.  So theres fun for all ages.

This 15" Mike pulls a train of about eight gons fitted with benches for people to ride, then a stock car (and the conductor just sits on the roof) and a waycar which can hold several small children.  Its meant to represent a narrow gauge prototype, so the railroad would be 5/12 scale.

The impressive thing about this operation is how often it runs.  The trip takes perhaps ten minutes or so; when the train pulls in, everybody unloads, then the next passengers are loaded, and away they go again.  Theres a one-man engine crew; by 6PM on this particular day he had already made 37 trips, he said, and was going to do a couple more before they stopped at 6:30.  And he had started firing the engine at 6AM, I think.  FRA hours of service are not an issue, of course. Sounds like a long day to me!

The sun was getting low in the sky when we arrived, so these pictures are not the best.

Nice scale accessories.  The track layout is two large reverse loops with spring switches joined by a rather short single track main.  Total route length is probably about a mile.  And theres a tunnel.

Working pressure is 150 lbs.  Oil fired, of course.  I meant to ask, since I dont know much about park trains, but I would guess that box on the running board is a mechanical lubricator?

And off we go!

What to Say and What Not to Say to Your Mechanic When Bringing Your Car for a Repair

Are you prone to automotive rip-offs? The fact is, auto repair shops and mechanics who have the habit of ripping their customers off choose their victims. They don’t actually prey on every customer that comes in. They only prey on people who show that they’re easy to deceive. And, they sometimes get their clue from the things that the customer says.

So, what are the things that you should say and should not say to your mechanic if you want to avoid an automotive rip-off?

What to tell your mechanic: A description of the symptoms you are experiencing in your vehicle.
If you’re having a problem in your drive, you should tell your mechanic in detail exactly what you are experiencing. Describe any noise that is evident, any vibration originating from somewhere in your car, etc. This will help the mechanic in the diagnosis.

What not to tell your mechanic: Your own assumption about what the problem might be.
Auto repair shops and mechanics on the lookout for a customer that they can rip off can use your assumption to tell you of a problem that does not actually exist and charge you for a repair that they don’t actually do. So, keep your assumptions to yourself and let the mechanic do his work.

What to tell your mechanic: A description of previous repairs done on the vehicle and past problems encountered, if any.
Information about any repair done or problem encountered in the past months will give your mechanic the whole picture and may just make the diagnosis faster and easier.

What not to tell your mechanic: That you’re not familiar with the part that is problematic.
This can raise the red flag among mechanics looking for a chance to trick their customers. They know that a clueless customer is easier to deceive, so telling them that you don’t have knowledge about your vehicle will greatly increase your likelihood to be ripped off.
